In what is considered milestone in the history of Bishop Heber College in the city, it has been ranked fourth across the nation in Academic Excellence and Research.
The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development has made the announcement on Monday on its official website on Monday. The college had been identified by the National Institutional Ranking Framework on four criteria -- Teaching - Learning output, Research and Patent output, Progression to Higher Studies and Perception of alumni, parents, students and public on curriculum and infrastructure.
Paul Dhayabaran, Principal, told The Hindu that the college would strive hard to achieve greater goals. Rev. Dr. G. Paul Vasanthakumar, chairman of the college, said that the achievement was a joint endeavour by faculty members, students, members of public and parents.
