BIM student wins national-level contest

To become Nissan’s brand manager for Tiruchi region to implement innovative marketing ideas

Gopinath Ganesan, second year MBA student of Bharathidasan Institute of Management, has won the National-level Nissan Student Brand Manager Challenge (NSBM) to be chosen as the Student Brand Manager for Tiruchi region to implement innovative marketing ideas and carry out branding activities for the next six months.

A flagship event of Nissan India, the contest gives students an opportunity to play an integral role in building a global brand in their campus and community.

NSBM 2012 witnessed participation by a wide array of participants from all over the country in the zonal round in early June.

Of them, 41 were chosen for the final round at Mumbai during the second week of July.

The final round involved a case scenario analysis and a presentation on the theme ‘Innovation and excitement for everyone’.

The contestants were evaluated by eminent and renowned personalities including Nirmalya Kumar, marketing guru & faculty of London Business School; Prahlad Kakkar, ad-film director, Genesis Films; Harish Bijoor, CEO of Harish Bijoor Consults Inc; Josy Paul, national creative director, BBDO India and NitishTipnis, director of sales & marketing, Hover Automotive India. 

Mr.Gopinath Ganesan said on his victory: “The hands-on experience derived out of this is sure to take me one step closer to my dream career.” Events of such kind, he said, exposes management aspirants to many challenges much earlier than during the course of employment.

The experience will help future managers strike a fine balance between the employee expectations and management skills, he explained.
