Several members of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) and the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) were arrested here on Tuesday for attempting to lay siege to a Tasmac shop at Woraiyur area. The shop located in a busy area hampered vehicular movement and let to traffic bottlenecks; it should be relocated, the protesters said. AIDWA members led by urban district president Renuka and DYFI functionaries led by urban district president Chandra Prakash took part in the agitation. A heavy posse of police personnel was deployed in front of the Tasmac outlet in view of the agitation call given by the two organisations.

A total of 37 members from both the organisations were arrested by the police. The arrested were later released.
