BHEL wins five national-level awards

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, has won five national safety awards from the Centre for 2013.

The Energy Systems Group (ESG) Complex of BHEL, Tiruchi, has won two national safety awards for the longest accident-free period and for the lowest average frequency rate among factories which operated for 0.1 to 0.25 million man-hours during the year.

The Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) workshop bagged two national safety awards for the longest accident-free period and for the lowest average frequency rate among factories which operated for 0.5 to 1 million man-hours during the year.

Runner-up

The Seamless Steel Tube Plant (SSTP) was the runner-up among factories (for the longest accident-free period) which operated for more than 1 million man-hours during the year. The awards consisting of citations and certificates each were received by G. Jayaprakash, General Manager, on behalf of SSTP, P.P. Duraisamy, Deputy General Manager on behalf of HRDC Workshop, and K. Muthukumar, Deputy General Manager on behalf of ESG Complex from Bandaru Dattatreya, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment at a function held in New Delhi recently, according to a BHEL press release.

BHEL, Tiruchi, has won the Safety Innovation Awards of the Institution of Engineers (India) and Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, Tamil Nadu, recently, the release added.
