Hosts Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchi unit, won the title in the all-India BHEL inter-unit cricket tournament here on Friday, defeating the Haridwar unit in the final encounter.
For the winning team, S. Parasuraman (37 runs) was the top scorer, while P. Muthupandian, who claimed four wickets conceding just 10 runs, shined with the ball.
Teams from 10 units - Bhopal, Haridwar, Delhi, Jhansi, R.C. Puram (Hyderabad), R & D Hyderabad, Ranipet, Tiruchi, Chennai and Bangalore - took part in the four-day tournament.
R. Kumar, General Manager, Engineering, BHEL, gave away prizes in the presence of P. Nainar, General Manager, Human Resource; S.S. Pillai, Additional General Manager, Public Relations & Administration; and P. Manoharan, Additional General Manager, Human Resource.
BHEL Tiruchi team was represented by P. Muthupandian (captain), S. Parasuraman (vice-captain), Vikas Srivastav, M. Vignesh Rao, M. Balaji, M. Basavarja, B. Sathishkumar, S. Sathiyamoorthy, D. Balaji, K. Srinivasan and C. Sakthivel.
