BHEL, Tiruchi, has distributed Rs.10.78 lakh as scholarships to needy students to pursue higher education, as a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative.
At a function on Wednesday, A.V. Krishnan, Executive Director, BHEL, Tiruchi, handed over the money to 268 students drawn from all over Tamil Nadu for pursuing higher classes in schools, diploma, and other professional courses.
Preference was given to children living below poverty line, children of widows, and physically challenged students. The thrust of BHEL, Tiruchi, was on education, strengthening of basic amenities and imparting technical skills to develop employability of beneficiaries, he said.
