Conduct of street-corner meetings, distribution of awareness pamphlets on social issues will be the highlight of the Family Welfare Counselling Centre, Aranthangi during the next year.
A meeting of the forum, which was held here recently, decided to address various social issues and organise awareness campaigns on anti-dowry, importance of joint family, significance of inheritance of values from parents so on and so forth.
Addressing presspersons here on Monday, the Honorary Advisor of the forum, B. Venkatesan said that the forum comprised representatives of various sections of the society and professionals including doctors and lawyers.
He said that adequate awareness would also be created among the masses about the importance of bio-agricultural practice that was in vogue decades ago and the cropping pattern.
The Co-ordinator of the Forum, S. Rajendran said that conciliatory efforts would also be taken in the coastal blocks of the district to resolve family disputes. Assistance would also be extended through the lawyer-members for resolving the family disputes through the Free Legal Aid cell, if the mediation did not yield the desired results.
The campaign would also sensitise the youths to develop their extra skills, without being complacent with their educational achievements. "Developing employability skills would be one of the prime objectives of the campaign to commence from January", he added.
