Awareness camp held for youth in Tiruchi

The Tamil Nadu State Cooperative Union and the Tiruchi District Cooperative Union jointly organised a youth awareness camp for the NSS volunteers of Savithri Vidyasala Hindu Higher Secondary School. The programme was organised in connection with the World Cooperation Year 2012.

M. Kanagasabapathi, special officer of the Tiruchi district Cooperative Union, spoke on ‘the cooperation movement in the day to day life of the common people’. He explained the important role played by the cooperative societies in the overall development of the country and improving the economic scenario of the rural areas.

Explaining the achievements of the cooperation movement since its birth, Mr. Kanagasabapathi said that it has of late turned into a mass movement. He explained to the students about the functioning of cooperative societies in the educational institutions and also said that the department also offered courses in cooperation which will enable the students in seeking employment in cooperative bodies.

The NSS volunteers interacted with him at the end and got their doubts clarified.

An instant quiz contest was held on cooperation movement and K. Baby, assistant headmaster of the Savithri Vidyasala Hindu HSS, gave away prizes to the winners. T. Rajashree, NSS programme officer, offered felicitations.
