Assyst International to begin operations

June 07, 2011 10:52 am | Updated 10:52 am IST - TIRUCHI:

Assyst International will be the first IT company to take-off from the Tiruchi IT Park at Navalpattu.

The company is all set to commence operations in a week's time once it secures data connectivity. Beginning with a modest work force, the company will gradually increase head count to 200, ELCOT sources said, adding that the company has already completed interior works in the space it has been provided in the 50,000 sq feet built up area.

Two other IT companies, i-link Software Private Limited, and Seventh Sense Technologies, are expected to commence operations in the coming months after completing the interior works. ELCOT has let on rent a total of about 10,000 sq feet space in the building to these three companies.

As for ITES companies, the ELCOT has allotted five acres to WNS Global Services, a leading global player in Business Process Outsourcing. The allotment follows visit by top officials of the company for a feasibility study earlier this year when they were reportedly satisfied with the quality of human resource in the region, and road, rail, and air connectivity. The ELCOT is also keen to provide space for the company in its building. The company headquartered in USA and UK has a strong presence in Gurgaon, Pune, and Mumbai, and is looking to expand in smaller cities.

Official sources said the new Government was working on a pro-active ICT policy and that further progress of the Tiruchi IT Park will fall in place after the re-laying of the link road from the Tiruchi-Pudukkottai National Highway. The new IT Minister R.B. Udayakumar who had reviewed the situation recently, has been apprised of the matter. Chairman of ELCOT and IT Secretary Santosh Babu, and the Managing Director Atul Anand, the two officials at the helm who had also assumed charge recently after the new round of appointments by the AIADMK Government, were pursuing the matter with the Government departments, sources added.

After creation of the strong link-road and completion of about 10 per cent pending infrastructural works, the ELCOT will start handing over land measuring between one acre and five acres to nine companies in the 123.23 acre Special Economic Zone area on the 147.61 acre IT Park premises. Out of the remaining non-SEZ area meant for creation of residential and other facilities, the ELCOT has provided ten acres to the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation for establishing a sub-station.
