Collector Jayashree Muralidharan on Monday gave away feeding grant totalling Rs. 27.13 lakh to some special schools in the city for feeding 381 mentally challenged children studying in them.
The cheques were given at the weekly public grievances day meeting at the collectorate.
The Collector also distributed cheques to the tune of over Rs. 2 lakh to six visually challenged girls who sealed the top three positions in the 10 and Plus Two examinations in 2012.
The assistance was also meant for purchase of braille books and towards their hostel fees. She gave away sports materials to M. Senthil Kumar, a standard IX student of Parvathypuram in Musiri taluk who had won several medals. Officials from various departments were present.
