The Scouts of Ordnance Factory High School selected to participate in the district-level test camp for the selection of candidates for the State Government’s Rajya Puraskar Award underwent strenuous training for two days on the school premises recently.

Led by B. Seraman, Scout Master of the Ordnance Factory High School, the selected scouts took part in the ‘hike for cycling’ from school premises to Mathur pedalling a distance of eight kms. The cycle rally was to make young boys undergo training in physical exercise, creative thinking, mind peace, outdoor involvement.

P. V. Gunasekaran, an assistant leader trainer of the scouts from Erode, imparted training in making various types of knot-tying, hand signal, whistle signal, scout game and scout songs on the first day.

On the next day, R. Senthilkumar, also an assistant leader trainer from Vadalur, trained them in first aid; pioneering; making improvised tents, including bell tents, patrol tents; improvised chairs; improvised flag post etc.

Mr. Seraman said that not only those selected, but other scouts also attended the programme to gain valuable experience.

He exuded confidence that this training will help the boys in finding a place in the list of Rajyapuraskar awardees.
