Pumping mains, collector wells, overhead tanks inspected

A two-member team from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which is funding the Rs.221.42 crore drinking water supply augmentation scheme for the city, inspected the progress of the project works in the city on Wednesday.

The team comprising Nakamura, programme specialist, JICA, and Mihr, senior development specialist, JICA, were accompanied by Rajendran, assistant vice president of Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services (TNUIFSL), Aaron Justin, deputy manager, TNUIFSL, and V.P.Thandapani, Corporation Commissioner.

They inspected the ongoing works on erecting the pumping mains across the Cauvery and other parts of the city, the collector wells of the project on the Coleroon river, and the construction of overhead tanks at Sanjeevi Nagar and Viragupettai. Later, they held discussions with the corporation officials and engineers on the progress made so far under the project, a corporation press release said. S.Raja Mohamed, city engineer, and R.Chandran and S.Arunachalam, executive engineers, were present.
