‘NIT-T and IIM-T partnership would give better insights into technology management'
In-depth subject knowledge is only a qualifier; character, value system, leadership qualities, competitiveness and hard work would constitute the real driving force, according to Awdhesh Krishna, Managing Director and Global Head of HR, Wholesale Corporate Banking, Nomura Services India Private India.
Both curricular and extra-curricular activities are important for building leadership quality. Students need to involve themselves in all walks of life and get the best out of the environment that Indian Institute of Management – Tiruchi (IIM-T) offers. In a competitive world, one either wins a gold medal or loses it. Silver medal has no relevance, Mr.Awdhesh told the new batch of PGP (Post Graduate Programme) on Wednesday.
Leaders have to deal with rising expectations of clients, constantly demanding employees, shareholders looking for better returns, and customers' desire for better products and services at cheap cost. The mantra ‘change is constant' has been replaced with ‘exponential pace of change' in the present corporate world. Calling for sincerity and seriousness on the students' part, he said the onus was on them to leverage the opportunities in the academic environment provided by IIM-T.
Offering felicitations, the Director of National Institute of Technology – Tiruchi (NIT-T) Srinivasan Sundarrajan, the Guest of Honour, said the presence of IIM-T in the vibrant NIT-T campus was mutually beneficial. The two institutions were into strategic partnership to foster the growth of small and medium enterprises. Partnership between NIT-T and IIM-T, he hoped, would lead to arriving at more insights into technology management.
Dr.Sundarrajan handed over awards to term-wise toppers, and Mr.Awdhesh issued the Director Merit List Certificates to the winners.
Welcoming the new batch, IIM-T Director Prafulla Agnihotri assured them that the rigorous two-year course will stand them in good stead, and urged the entrants to be prepared for putting in strenuous efforts. Referring to quality publications by faculties in international journals, he said the IIM-T was on course to be ranked among the top 10 business schools in the country within five years. There will be an addition of five more faculties to the existing 15 during this year, he said.
V.Gopal, Professor and Dean–Academics oriented the students on the expectations of IIM-T.
