A 10-day combined annual training camp for NCC cadets-boys and girls-from various districts commenced at the National Institute of Technology here recently. The camp is organised by 2 TN Battalion NCC, Tiruchi.
Training would be imparted to the cadets on various subjects such as drill, weapon training, map reading, first aid, adventure, self defence, military history, physical fitness, field craft and battle craft.
Motto of camp
The Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel N. Kumar gave the presidential address and spoke about training discipline and motto of the camp, a press release here said.
Another release said the 3 TN Air Squadron Tiruchi organised a 10-day combined annual training camp for NCC cadets-boys and girls- of Air Squadron and Army Composite Technical Company at the MNU Jayaraj Nadar Higher Secondary School, Madurai, from May 14 to 23.
The camp began with the address of the Camp Commandant Group Captain N. Thinakaran on NCC training, safety, health and hygiene aspects.
The cadets were imparted training among others in parade, rifle shooting, rifle drill and aero modelling.

The NCC camp experience is a must for the young students.Due to the modern age, the training manual needs to be upgraded. 1 Map reading this subject is of no use as there are modern equipments like 'gps' is available and this is easier also. Morning drill can be substituted by yoga(50%).Cadets can be trained to drive a jeep during 10 days camp.The camp should include a medical class highlighting the cadets about the eating habits and how to prevent diabetes,obesity.In the end all cadets should be asked to write a page in their handwriting how to fight the corruption in India.
