With an overall pass percentage of 90.80, Karur ranks first among districts in central region in overall performance of students in Plus Two examinations.
The second highest performance is by Thanjavur district (90.28) followed by Tiruchi (87.67), Pudukottai (83.56), Nagapattinam (83.37), Perambalur (82.78), Tiruvarur (80.98) and Ariyalur (72.81). Only Karur, Thanjavur and Tiruchi districts could exceed the State average of 86.70 in overall performance.
At the State-level, Virudhunagar district posted the highest overall performance of 94.68 per cent. Tuticorin district was close behind with 94.62 per cent.
Only the students who had chosen Tamil as the first language were identified for the purpose of State and district-level rankings.
The district-level first rank holder in Tiruchi among students who had taken other languages was R. Abinaya of Savithri Vidyasala Hindu Girls' Higher Secondary School with a total of 1,184. A.K. Hariharan of E.R. Higher Secondary School stood second with a total of 1,181. The third spot was shared by two students: J. Balagirish of E.R. Higher Secondary School and R. Kaviya of R.S.K. Higher Secondary School with a total of 1,180 each.
Among students of government schools, B. Gowthaman of Government HSS, Lalgudi, stood first with a total of 1,166. The second and third spots were bagged by T.Dhivya (1,126) of Government HSS, Mettupalayam, and S. Pavithra (1,124) of Government HSS, Balasamudram.
Within Tiruchi revenue district, the Lalgudi educational district stood first with an overall performance of 89.19 followed by Tiruchi educational district (88.74) and Musiri educational district (83.32).
Of the 29,722 students in the revenue district who appeared for the exam, 26,058 students registered pass marks.
The remaining students have been given the opportunity to appear for instant examination, the results of which will be published early such that the students will not be required to waste an academic year.
Tiruchi revenue districts accounts for 196 schools. The 69 government-aided schools outnumber government schools numbering 65. There are 37 matriculation higher secondary schools. Out of the government-aided schools, 49 are in Tiruchi educational district.
