‘Watching a new release with family and friends is part of the celebrations for many’

The festival of lights is synonymous with new releases. This year four movies — Arrambam, Azhagu Raja, Pandiya Naadu, and Krrish 3 – have hit the silver screen.

The Ajith Kumar-starrer Arrambam has been one of the most awaited movies of the year. Directed by Vishnuvardhan, the film features Arya, Nayanthara, and Taapsee.

“Arrambam keep us glued to the seats. Ajith is very stylish in his salt and pepper look and Yuvan Shankar Raja’s background score is outstanding,” says Vaikunth, a college student who watched the movie on the day of its release in the company of his friends.

Many of Ajith’s fans say the stunt sequences performed by the actor are the film’s highlight. “Our thala is known for daredevil stunts. The speed boat stunt by him is simply terrific,” says Zaheer, an excited fan.

Actor Vishal turns producer with Pandiya Naadu. He and Lakshmi Menon play the lead roles in the movie directed by Suseenthiran.

“Suseenthiran has come up with some good movies in the past and his latest, Pandiya Naadu has lived up to our expectations. It is a good entertainer and Vishal has done a neat job,” says Kumar, a moviegoer. Azhagu Raja has Karthi and Kajal Agarwal in the lead with Santhanam taking care of the comedy track. The film, directed by M. Rajesh of Boss Engira Baskaran fame, has released in three cinemas in the city.

The Hrithik Roshan-starrer Krrish 3, dubbed in Tamil, is screened at Meena. The sci-fi movie has been drawing good crowd as well.

“Festival releases always have a significance attached to them.

On Deepavali, especially, watching a new release with family and friends forms part of the celebrations for many,” says A. Loganathan, proprietor, Oorvasi cinema.
