Anna Varsity to start three new courses from next academic year

Anna University, Chennai, will start three new courses from the forthcoming academic year, its Vice-Chancellor, P. Mannar Jawahar, said.

Speaking at a function to mark the distribution of certificates to students who underwent the week-long training on mobile communication at Sudharsan Engineering College near here on Monday, Dr. Mannar Jawahar said that the courses would be Master of Business Administration in Hospitality Management; Master of Architecture in Advanced Architecture and Master of Engineering in Space Technology.

Explaining the prospects of the training on mobile communication being imparted jointly by the Anna University and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Dr. Mannar Jawahar said that as many as 5,000 engineering college studens would undergo the training on vale-added mobile communication technology. So far, 900 students of various engineering colleges had undergone the training. He also said that the training enhanced the scope and prospects of the students in understanding the nuances of mobile communication through an innovative approach.

D. Varadharajan, Chief General Manager, BSNL, Tamil Nadu Circle, said that the BSNL would introduce the Fibre-to-House (FTH) service at Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchi, Salem, Vellore in Tamil Nadu besides the adjoining Puducherry.

S. Selvam, Director, Centre for University - Industry Collaboration, Anna University, Chennai, presented the report. V.K. Sundaram, Chairman of Sudharsan Engineering College, was among those who spoke.
