They won medals in badminton and roller skating
Students of Vidivelli Special School here have won medals in badminton and roller skating at the national-level competitions conducted for special children.
At a national-level badminton tournament held at Rajasthan, R. Manikandan (18 years and above age category) and M. Anandhi (8 to 12 years) won gold and silver medals respectively. Special children from 13 States participated in the competition.
Three Vidivelli students were part of the 10-member Tamil Nadu team that took part in the national-level roller skating competition at Hyderabad. More than 200 special children from 23 States participated in the five-day event.
Tamil Nadu secured six gold medals at the meet of which Vidivelli students won four.
In all Vidivelli students bagged four gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal at the competition. V. Nishanthini clinched gold in 500m race and 2x100m relay. She also secured bronze in 1000m race.
M. Chandrabose won gold in the 1000m race and silver in 2x100m relay. R. Praveena won gold in 2x100m relay and silver in 100m race.
Collector T. Soundiah felicitated the children at a function organised by the Rotary Club of Jambukeshwaram. School’s Principal and Correspondent Sr. Bridgit Amutha and staff members commended the children’s performance.
