Members of the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) staged an agitation in front of the bus stand here on Tuesday, demanding that the district administration take steps for the on time payment of wages to the workers of the government horticulture farm at Nattumangalam. They also demanded that men and women workers of the farm be treated equally.

Expressing solidarity with the stir, members of the Pudukottai District Construction Workers Welfare Association and office-bearers of the Farm Workers Union participated in the agitation.

Selvaraj, secretary of the Farm Workers Union and K.R. Dharmaraj, deputy secretary of the Construction Workers Welfare Association urged the district administration to take immediate action. They also urged the farm officials to ensure that more amenities and facilities be given to the workers.
