Celebrations erupted in Srirangam moments after their party leader Jayalalithaa took over the reigns of the State for the fifth time on Saturday.
Scores of jubilant workers, including men and women, thronged in front of the Rajagopuram of Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple at Srirangam. Flashing victory signs, the workers expressed their happiness by bursting crackers.
Dancing to the tunes, they distributed sweets and cakes to passersby and devotees, who came to the temple from different parts of the country.

Some of the enthusiastic workers got into the buses and distributed sweets.
They raised slogans eulogising their leader.
There were reports of celebrations in different parts of the town. Although most of the important leaders, MPs and MLAs were in Chennai to witness in the swearing-in-ceremony of Jayalalithaa, second and third rung leaders distributed sweets among the people in their respective areas. Special pujas were performed in Manicka Vinayagar temple at Rock Fort on the occasion.
