All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam got into election mode on Saturday with party candidate S. Valarmathi starting the process of enlisting the support of important personalities in the constituency.

There could not have been a better occasion for Valarmathi to introduce herself than the 98{+t}{+h}birth anniversary of the party founder M.G. Ramachandran.

Garlanding his statue turned out to be a first assignment for her after being nominated.

As she climbed up the podium to pay her respect to the late leader, party workers raised slogans hailing MGR, and party general secretary Jayalalithaa.
