The ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has fielded S. Valarmathi, the joint secretary of the party’s Tiruchi unit, as the candidate for the Srirangam by-election scheduled for February 13.

AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa, in a statement, has announced a list of 50-office bearers, including all the ministers but excluding Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, for the election work.

The election committee will be headed by party presidium chairman E. Madhusudhanan.

The Assembly constituency fell vacant after the conviction of Ms. Jayalalithaa in a disproportionate assets case last September.
