The district administration on Monday advised the transport department to ply adequate buses from Mettupatti to Musiri in the interests of student community. Collector Jayashree Muralidharan spoke to officials of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation after a group of students from a private school near Thandalaiputhur complained that public transport buses skipped Mettupatti due to which they were forced to walk for more than one kilometre.

The students approached the Collector at the time of weekly grievances meeting after conveying their disgust over the inadequate bus service to MLA of Manachanallur constituency Poonachi.
