Elephants sent for rejuvenation camp

The elephant from Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple left for the rejuvenation camp at Thekkampatti in Coimbatore district on Wednesday.

Four elephants from four major temples in and around Tiruchi district left for the rejuvenation camp organised by the state government.

The elephants -- Masini from Sri Samayapuram Sri Mariamman Temple, Andal from Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, Akila from Sri Jambukeswarar Akilandeswari Temple in Tiruvanaikovil and Lakshmi from Rockfort Sri Thayumanaswamy Temple left for camp at Thekkampatti in Coimbatore district, on Wednesday.

The month-long camp will conclude on March 10. Special teams of veterinary doctors and assistants accompanied the elephants to ensure smooth transit up to the camp. The last camp was held for 48 days from January 6, 2016.
