Over 900 persons in the age group of 18 to 35 have gained employment through skill enhancement training offered under the ‘Puduvazhvu Thittam’ in Ariyalur district. Ten employment camps had been conducted so far, after the scheme was implemented with an outlay of Rs. 56.94 crore in June 2011.

Distributing additional funds to the tune of Rs. 80.4 lakh to village poverty eradication committees here on Monday, Collector E. Saravanavelraj said that the groups would take up skill enhancement initiatives for the poor, differently abled, and the youth with the allocation and contribute to the efforts to make Ariyalur a poverty-free district. He said that 951 out of 1,423 youth trained in driving vehicles and computer applications were placed with a salary ranging from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 12, 000 a month.
