75 per cent pass in Ariyalur district

Ariyalur district has recorded an overall pass percentage of 74.77 in the Plus Two public examination.

Though there was a slight slide in the overall score compared to last year's 75.34 per cent, the significance this year was that the district accounted for one of the five third-rank holders at the State-level.

State-rank holder Anto Nazarene of Arasu Nagar Matriculation Higher Secondary School was the first-rank holder at the district level with a score of 1,185 (Centums in Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, 199 in Physics, and 193 each in English and Tamil). The district-second spot was bagged by Bhanupriya of Vidya Mandir Matriculation Higher Secondary School with a total of 1,162 (Tamil – 190, English – 188, Physics – 191, Chemistry – 194, Biology – 199, and centum in Mathematics). Sheela, also of Arasu Nagar Matriculation Higher Secondary, held the third position with a score of 1,157 (Tamil – 188, English – 186, Physics – 198, Chemistry – 190, Biology – 198, and Mathematics -197).

Praising the performance of students, Collector T. Abraham appealed to their parents to enable their wards to pursue courses of higher study in accordance with their aptitude. Chief Educational Officer Karthiyayini and District Educational Officers Seetharaman (Ariyalur educational district) and Padmasini (Udayarpalayam) also felicitated the students.

A total of 7,219 students, including 3,905 girls, from 50 higher secondary schools in the district appeared for the examination.
