A large number of college students, sportspersons, members of service organisations, and general public participated in a run held as part of Swami Vivekananda’s 150 birth anniversary here on Friday.

The run, organised by Swami Vivekananda 150 Year Birth Anniversary Celebration Committee, began near Uzhavar Sandhai at Anna Nagar and ended near Anna Statue at Chinthamani.

Spreading ideals

The run was part of various events organised by the committee across the country to spread the ideals of Swami Vivekananda.

The event in Tiruchi was organised by the Swcommittee in association with National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme, Youth Exnora, Indian Red Cross, and JCI Tiruchi. Collector Jayashree Muralidharan flagged off the run and joined the runners for some distance. According to the organisers, about 7,200 college students participated in it.
