7 get jail for fake insurance claims

On a direction from the Madras High Court in 2006, the CBI which probed the scam filed the charge sheet in 2007.

Chief Judicial Magistrate A.P. Balachandran on Tuesday sentenced seven persons, including an advocate, to undergo two-year imprisonment in connection with the fake accident insurance claims cases probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Those convicted and sentenced were advocate A.K. Subbu alias Subramanian, Pakkirisamy, Anand, Karunanidhi, Rangarajan, Veeramani and Mahendran.

On a direction from the Madras High Court in 2006, the CBI which probed the scam filed the charge sheet in 2007. Judgement was given in three cases today.
