As many as 673 school students from 400 elementary, middle, high and higher secondary schools in the revenue district are to present their science exhibits at the Bishop Heber Higher Secondary School, Puthur, on Saturday.

Twenty seven teachers from colleges and universities in the region have been roped in for assessing the exhibits.

The first three prize winners will receive books worth Rs. 4,000. Consolation prizes will be given for 130 exhibits.

Five per cent of the participants will gain eligibility to take part in the State-level exhibition for Inspire (Innovation of Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) Award at Chennai during December, Chief Educational Officer T. Mohana Kumar said.

The annual event has witnessed phenomenal patronage over the last two years. From just 11 exhibits year before last, the number rose to 250 last year.

The department could successfully prevail upon the headmasters to motivate students to take part in large numbers, Mr. Mohana Kumar said.
