Gold jewellery weighing 60 sovereigns, Rs. 1 lakh cash and silver articles were looted by culprits from a house at Kattur on the city’s outskirts when the inmates were asleep on Friday night. The offence came to light on Saturday morning.

Police said the complainant – M. Kasturi (40) — was fast asleep along with her children in an air-conditioned room in the house, situated at Vignesh Nagar, when the burglars broke into the house through a window.

They took away valuables kept inside the steel cupboard. The woman’s husband is working abroad.
