A total of 54 persons were injured at two ‘jallikattu’ held at two different places on Saturday.

At Narthamalai near here, as many as 27 youth were injured when they attempted to tame the bulls.

In all, 450 bulls were brought from different parts of the district besides Ariyalur, Thanjavur and Sivaganga districts. As many as 250 bull tamers participated. At Navalpattu near Tiruverambur, as many as 27 youth were injured at a jallikattu. In all, 617 bulls were brought to the venue of which 13 were rejected as they did not comply with the guidelines on fitness for participation. K. S. Palaniswamy, Collector, inaugurated the event.
