4,300 kg of cotton auctioned

About 4,300 kg of cotton was traded at the weekly cotton auction at the Thuraiyur Regulated Market on Wednesday. About 30 farmers from T.Kalathur, Sikkathambur, Keerambur, Koppampatti, Naduvalur, Thulaiyantham, and Nalliyanpalayam had brought their cotton for sale at the auction.

The cotton fetched a maximum of Rs.41.10 a kg and average price was Rs.40 a kg. Cotton has been raised in about 16,453 hectares of land during the current season, Collector K.S. Palanisamy said in a press release. The next auction would be held at the market on March 11.
