A total of 3,500 educated unemployed youth got placement orders from a host of companies at the job fair organised jointly by the Confederation of Indian Industry and district administration here on Sunday.
In all, 65 companies interviewed 10,364 persons – 8,364 from Perambalur and 2,000 from Ariyalur district. The candidates had registered their names in a camp held in these districts earlier.
The beneficiaries got placement in insurance and allied sector; electrical and electronics firms; heavy and light engineering industries; information and communication; food processing and tourism and hospitality industries.
Inaugurating the camp, D. Napoleon, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, said the fair benefited candidates with a pass in Standard VIII, SSLC, Plus Two, ITI diploma holders besides graduates. He highlighted the efforts made by the State government in providing jobs to the unemployed youth.
M. Vijayakumar, Collector, said the fair benefited both the employers and the job seekers. The fair had been instrumental in providing job opportunities to hundreds of youth all over the state during the first and second phases of its implementation. M. Rajkumar, MLA; S. Natarajan, District Revenue Officer and S. Deivanayaki, Project Officer, Mahalir Thittam, spoke.
