Over 35 vacancies are likely to be filled in the next exercise

Thirty-two of the 1,080 newly-appointed PG teachers in the State have been posted in schools in Tiruchi district.

Twenty-four of them joined duty on Monday, and the rest will be reporting in the next couple of days, Chief Educational Officer K. Selvakumar said.

After the processes of transfer counselling and new postings, vacancies in all the eight newly upgraded higher secondary schools have been filled, Mr. Selvakumar said.

Each of the newly upgraded schools at Inammathur, Kannudayanpatti, Oothukuli, Tirupanjali, Kattuputhur, Paithamparai, T. Murungapatti and Aamur will have nine PG teachers to handle Tamil, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Commerce, and History. Till two years back, only science teachers were appointed in newly upgraded schools.

Sanction of posts for commerce group will reflect in hundreds of students in rural parts getting opportunities to complete their higher secondary education without hassle, Mr. Selvakumar said.

The department, so far, sent teachers on deputation to schools where there were vacancies to engage the students. In the next round, candidates chosen for the post of PG assistants based on the entrance exam conducted by the Teachers’ Recruitment Board will be posted in the left-out vacancies. Over 35 vacancies are likely to be filled in the next exercise, sources added.
