The special medical camps organised by the State health department under the Chief Minister’s special health insurance scheme in the eleven panchayat unions in the district benefitted about 30,000 people belonging to weaker sections, said K. A. Jayapal, Fisheries Minister.
Speaking at the function to inaugurate the medical camp in Keezhaiyur panchayat union here on Monday, Mr.Jayapal said through these camps, the poor and downtrodden in rural areas can access medical care at their doorsteps. For the successful implementation of the scheme, the government has appointed coordinators in all districts. The people in need of assistance can contact these coordinators.
Referring to the plea of the residents of Keezhaiyur panchayat union for a primary health centre, the Minister assured to take up the matter with the Chief Minister.
The Minister handed monthly assistance order for a person affected by encephalitis. M.Asiya Mariam, DRO, presided. Nagai Mali, MLA, M.Krishnan, joint director of health and rural welfare services, V.A. Ralph Selvin, deputy director of health services, and others spoke.
