A 20-year-old woman was murdered allegedly her husband in their house at Kuzhumani on the city’s outskirts in the early hours on Sunday.
The accused M. Chozhan (21) involved in centring works surrendered at the Jeeyapuram police station after committing the murder, said the police.
The couple have a six-month-old male child. Police said family problem between the couple eventually led to the murder of C. Suganya, a native of Kumarapalayam in Namakkal district.
The sources said Chozhan loved Suganya and married her one-and-half years ago. The woman went to her parent’s house for delivery. Police said Chozhan reportedly did not evince interest in living with his wife thereafter.
The woman’s mother Maheswari lodged a complaint to the All Women Police Station at Jeeyapuram against Chozhan on Saturday. The police held talks with both parties and Suganya thereafter left for Chozhan’s house at Kuzhumani.
Police said Suganya was fast asleep in the house when Chozhan threw a grinding stone on her head killing her.
He surrendered to the Jeeyapuram police station thereafter. The Jeeyapuram police arrested Chozhan and registered a case of murder.
