2 AIADMK supporters held for distributing money

The police took into custody two supporters of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on charges of distributing money, dhotis and saris to the voters here on Saturday. Singaram, Election Monitoring Committee Tahsildar, was on a routine visit to Ponnanviduthi village, when he spotted Senthilkumar of Tirupathur in Sivagangai district roaming in a suspicious manner. He was found distributing money to the voters after verifying the voter list. The tahsildar rounded him up with the assistance of the Border Security Force personnel in the area.

He was later handed over to the Karambakudi police. The officials seized Rs. 15,900 from him. In another incident, Manivannan, the Flying Squad Tahsildar, was conducting vehicle check near Vallathirayankollai village in Athiranviduthi panchayat when he noticed a car parked in a secluded area.

The officials found about 150 dhotis, saris and shirts, meant for distribution to the voters, without any documents in the car.

Ilangovan of Valangaiman in Tiruvarur district was rounded up and later handed over to police.
