Out of 18,950 registered candidates, 18,415 appeared for Paper II of Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test on Sunday.

A pass in the examination necessitated by the Right to Education Act would qualify the successful candidates to handle classes for upper primary sections, according to the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

For the examination of three hour duration, the candidates had to answer 150 multiple choice questions drawn from Child Development and Pedagogy, Tamil, English, Mathematics and Science, and Social Science.

The questions determined the candidates’ understanding of the characteristics, needs and psychology of diverse learners; proficiency related to the medium of instruction; elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities; and concepts and problem solving abilities.
