About 180 stainless steel pots being transported atop a State Transport Corporation bus bound for Salem from Kumbakonam were seized by elections officials at Thuvakudi on the outskirts on Saturday. This was the second consignment of stainless steel pots that were seized by the officials in the last two days. A similar consignment of 100 pots was seized on Friday, also from a State Transport Corporation bus. In both instances, there was no claimant for the consignments.

Sources indicated that the pots manufactured in Kumbakonam were being sent to traders in Salem.

Officials said owners of the consignments could reclaim the same on producing proper documents. Meanwhile, the election officials detained a goods vehicle carrying Rs. 5.69 lakh worth of Indian Made Foreign Liquor bottles at Thuraiyur.
