Shailesh Kumar Yadav holds meet with Hindu organisations
After holding a separate meeting with representatives of Muslim organisations a couple of days ago, the city police convened a meeting in Tiruchi on Monday with the members of Hindu organisations in connection with the forthcoming Vinayagar Chathurthi processions.
The hour-long meeting convened by the Commissioner of Police Shailesh Kumar Yadav at Kalaiarangam was attended by members of the Bharatiya Janata Party and other Hindu organisations.
While delving on the guidelines laid down with respect to height of idols, its protection, and procession routes, the Commissioner of Police sought the cooperation of members of Hindu organisations for the smooth conduct of idols processions.
The organisers installing the idols were advised to strictly follow the route as prescribed and start the processions on time.
The organisers were asked to depute their members to guard the idols at all places of installation and maintain a separate register for the purpose .
Police sources said the organisers appealed to the Commissioner of Police to accord permission to install idols in a few more places than what had been permitted.
The police authorities have identified 175 places across the city for installing idols.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) M.Sathiya Priya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic) S. Selvakumar and Assistant Commissioners of Police attended the meeting, police sources said.
