A 12-day programme to train the trainers in entrepreneurship development, sponsored by the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and conducted by Shivani Group of Institutions, commenced in Tiruchi recently.
It is conducted in association with the National Institute of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Hyderabad.
Creating awareness of business opportunities, supporting potential entrepreneurs, and assisting them in sustaining their enterprises is a major concern for agencies involved in accelerating economic development through entrepreneurship.
An analysis of the various training programmes for entrepreneurs revealed that they often lack certain important elements, thus reducing the impact of training on the potential entrepreneurs resulting in high dropout and or low rate of success .
While the need for training is ever increasing, the paucity of effective trainers in entrepreneurship development is widely evident in many developing countries, said a release from MSME.
This programme, however, enables the staff of the training division to develop a holistic perspective of the complex process involved in building entrepreneurial capabilities, managing it and gauging the technical competence of potential entrepreneurs.
Developing such potential trainers in entrepreneurship development was an important task before any developing country, the release said.
Rajappa Rajkumar, vice-president, TANSTIA, who inaugurated the programme, underlined the importance of training and time management.
C. Ramaswamy Desai, project manager, IECD, Bharathidasan University, urged the participants to have innovative ideas. P. Selvaraj, Chairman, Shivani Group of Institutions, presided. S.Kandasamy, general manager, District Industries Centre, S. Vigneshwaran, secretary, and R. Rajendran, registrar, Shivani Group of Institutions, offered felicitations.
