1.20 lakh applications received during electoral roll revision

A total of 1.20 lakh applications have been received during the course of summary revision of electoral roll held in the district from October 1 to November 20.

Of them, a majority of 95,253 applications were received from fresh voters attaining the qualifying age of 18 as on January 1, 2013, said Collector Jayashree Muralidharan.

In a press release issued here on Monday, the Collector said the Tiruverumbur Assembly constituency registered a maximum of 15,082 applications for inclusion as fresh voters, followed by 12,722 for Srirangam, 12,627 for Manapparai, 12,080 for Tiruchi West, 11,982 for Tiruchi East, 7,971 for Lalgudi, 7,637 for Mannachanallur, 7,621 for Musiri and 7,531 for Thuraiyur (res) Assembly constituency.

The Collector said applications were also accepted online, benefiting 685 persons who could not appear in person at designated polling stations. Data in the applications are being computerised and field supervisors would conduct spot verification for effecting necessary entries and issuing corrections, the Collector said.
