Ten persons, including doctors, health officials, and field workers were awarded certificates of appreciation for contribution towards dengue prevention and control, at the collectorate, on Monday.
The certificates were distributed by Collector Jayashree Muralidharan for their efforts in prevention and control of dengue. The recipients who came in for a pat on the back included doctors M.P. Saravanan, Sugumar, Praveen, Anbazhagan, block development officer, Marungapuri, Ilangovan, executive officer, Kattuputhur, Mohamed Maqdhoom, principal, Seva Sangam Girls Higher Secondary School, health inspector Sivakumar, food safety inspector Kennedy, anganwadi worker Vasanthi, Mahatma National Rural Employment Generation Scheme project officer Chandra.
Following the review meeting in October by Pankaj Kumar Bansal, mission director, National Rural Health Mission, dengue prevention measures were intensified, said a release from the collectorate. Special teams headed by district-level officers and professors of medical colleges, were formed with inter-department coordination. Efforts towards source reduction of mosquitoes, review of dengue-affected areas and medical camps for identification and treatment of patients, had ensured relatively lower morbidity and mortality rates compared to neighbouring districts.
