A march taken out by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha activists on Monday to the Assembly here demanding a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the alleged trafficking of children from Jharkhand to the State turned violent. The police resorted to lathicharge and lobbed tear-gas shells to disperse the activists.
In a statement here, the Yuva Morcha condemned the “unprovoked” attack on its activists by the police. The organisation said several of their activists, including State president P. Sudheer, State committee member Nisandh and district general secretary Mahesh, sustained injuries. They had been admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital here. The organisation would hold protests across the State to condemn the police action, the statement said.
