Youth’s body retrieved

The body of Shyju, 27, of Vazhayila who went missing in the sea at Vizhinjam on Sunday was retrieved on Wednesday afternoon.

The body was found off Pulluvila around 12.30 p.m. during a joint operation by the Coastal Police and the Marine Enforcement after it was spotted by the Coast Guard, the Coastal Police said. The body was brought on the Coastal Police boat to the new wharf where it was identified by Shyju’s kin.

The body was shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Shyju, along with three friends, had come to the old wharf where he was believed to have been swept away by strong currents.
