The last date for submitting entries for the preliminary round of the 20th The HinduYoung World painting contest, which will be held in three centres in the State, has been extended to November 21.
The competition will be held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, and Kozhikode on November 26 and in Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Tiruchi, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Bangalore, Mangalore, Mysore, Hubli, and New Delhi the next day. There is no entry fee or entry form.
Those interested (juniors from Class IV to VII and seniors from Class VIII to X) should send their paintings on a white drawing sheet (26X27 cm) on any one of the topics given. The topics for the preliminary round for juniors are, ‘Favourite Game,' ‘Visit to a village,' ‘Break time at School,' and ‘Favourite Festival.' For seniors, the topics are, ‘Favourite Landmark,' ‘A Holiday,' ‘Wildlife Safari,' and ‘Underwater.'
Entries will be accepted at The Hindu offices in Kochi, Kozhikode, and Thiruvananthapuram. The participants selected for the finals would be sent letters with details of the venue and time. MIOT Hospitals (CHIME) is the title sponsor for the contest. Amrutanjan Relief Cough and Cold is the national sponsor.
Apart from the first, second, and third prizes in each group, there will be consolation prizes.
All-India winners from the junior and senior categories will be selected from amongst the winning entries of all the 15 centres. The best three paintings will be selected and engraved on the cover/lid of Amrutanjan.
