The finals of the 22nd edition of The Hindu-Young World painting contest will be held at the Nirmala Bhavan School here on Sunday.
The finals will start at 9.30 a.m. and the shortlisted students have to reach the venue by 9 a.m.
The students should have with them the intimation letter sent from The Hindu and the school identity card. The topics for the finals and the painting sheet will be given at the venue. The contestants should bring with them all other material needed for painting. They can choose any medium to paint.
Prizes on the same dayThe decision of the judges will be final and binding on all contestants. The paintings will become the sole property of The Hindu and will not be given back to the contestants.
Prizes will be distributed to the winners the same afternoon at the venue. Other finalists will be given participation certificates. Kerala State Police Chief K.S. Balasubramanian will be the chief guest and will also give away the prizes for the winners.
The preliminary round of competitions was held in two categories – Juniors Class 4 to 6 and Seniors Class 8 to 10. The topic for the junior category preliminary round was ‘Walking your pet’ or ‘A flower show’ or ‘Shopping with your parents’ and for the seniors the topic could be chosen from ‘Watching a painting competition’, ‘A green drive – planting trees, segregating waste or cleaning the beach’, and ‘Sunday mornings at home’. The response, as usual, was overwhelming from both the categories.
