WPI to contest in 41 seats

The Welfare Party of India (WPI) has fielded candidates in 41 Assembly segments. In a release here on Saturday, party State secretary Sreeja Neyyatinkara said the nomination papers of all candidates had been accepted after scrutiny.

Party State president Hameed Vaniyambalam is contesting from Mankada, while vice-presidents Prema Pisharody and Surendran Karippuzha are candidates in Kalamassery and Vengara respectively. General secretary P.A. Abdul Hakkim is contesting in Poonjar.

The party is pitted against the rival fronts with the slogan, ‘Welfare Kerala’. The WPI manifesto will be released at the Malappuram Press Club on May 2, Mr. Vainyambalam said in a release.
