WITS gets off to a colourful start

January 04, 2012 12:19 pm | Updated July 25, 2016 06:43 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

‘WITS-12,' a two-day literary festival organised by the Department of English, College for Women, was inaugurated here on Tuesday by actor-director Madhupal.

The department said it was after a gap of two decades that it was organising such a festival.

A face-painting contest lent a splash of colour to the first day of WITS—Women's Innovative Talent Seeker—which also saw contestants compete to design a cover page for the novel ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude.' Writer and social activist Arundhati Roy and the immortal Vayalar Rama Varma put in an appearance during the ‘mock press' contest.

On Wednesday, spot- dancing and debate contests will be held. The official launch of the college band would also be held as part of WITS.
