January 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:

The Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) has protested against a government order giving permission to students of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (BAMS, BHMS, BSMS) for doing their house surgeons training in gynaecology in government hospitals practising modern medicine. The government had through an order issued on December 11, given permission for students of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy, to do their house surgeoncy in the Women and Children hospital at Thycaud, General Hospital at Ernakulam and all district hospitals.

In a statement here, the KGMOA said the GO was a violation of the stipulations of the Medical Council of India and the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court and that students of other streams of medicine cannot be trained in hospitals of modern medicine.

The KGMOA demanded that the government withdraw the order.
